In the face of a rapidly evolving media landscape, growing threats of disinformation, hate speech, and the erosion of public trust, the role of independent organizations committed to upholding high journalistic standards is more critical than ever. The Polish Media House Foundation was established in response to these challenges, with a mission to build a strong foundation for responsible and ethical media in Poland.
We are an independent, apolitical, non-profit organization uniting experts, practitioners, and advocates of responsible journalism. Our work is rooted in values that define the strength and credibility of the media: truth, objectivity, independence, and respect for human dignity. We believe that strong and free media are the pillars of democratic society and the guardians of civil rights.
The activities of the Polish Media House Foundation encompass a wide range of initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of Polish journalism and increasing its resilience to contemporary threats:
- We organize training sessions, workshops, and mentoring programs for current and future journalists, with a focus on professional ethics, information processing methodology, fact-checking, and counteracting manipulation.
- We conduct systematic monitoring of the media landscape, identifying and analyzing phenomena such as hate speech, disinformation, and violations of ethical standards. Our analyses form the basis for recommendations and corrective actions.
- We serve as a platform for dialogue and discussion on the future of media, the role of journalism in the modern world, human rights in the context of freedom of expression, and the challenges posed by new technologies.
- We actively engage in public discourse, offering expert opinions and recommendations on legal regulations and ethical standards in media. We defend freedom of speech while acknowledging the boundaries set by human dignity and the public interest.
